Mumbai: Former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra has been appointed as the new head coach of the new IPL franchise Ahmedabad. Former India coach Gary Kirsten will be the advisor. Former England cricketer Vikram Solanki is the director of cricket. The franchise will make an official announcement after getting the approval of the BCCI.
Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten previously worked together at Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kirsten was the head coach when Nehra was the team bowling coach. Nehra played for Kirsten in the 2011 ODI World Cup when he led India to victory. Meanwhile, former Zimbabwe superstar Andy Flower has been appointed coach of the Lucknow franchise.

The former coach of the Punjab Kings resigned last month. Along with Andy Flower, former New Zealand captain and former Royal Challengers Bangalore coach Daniel Vettori was also considered for the position. Flower eventually overtook Vettori and became the team coach.
