IPTV Crackdown: Europol’s Dismantling of One of Europe’s Largest Providers, and How It Resurfaced Within 15 Days

At the end of May, Europol announced that it had dismantled the activities of one of the largest IPTV providers operating in Europe. A month later, the platform is operational again…

Remember, at the end of May, Europol announced a nice crackdown. With the help of the Dutch Tax Information and Investigation Service (FIOD), Europol managed to shut down the servers of one of the biggest IPTV providers in Europe. In total, the platform had more than a million customers on the old continent.

The platform provided access to more than 10,000 television channels and 15,000 films and series for a €10/month subscription.

The activity of the platform had been stopped dead with the arrest of four people involved in the traffic.

Less than 15 days later, the platform is however online again, without knowing how it is possible, since its creators were supposed to be all behind bars. A situation that tends to repeat itself a little too often and to create tension, because rights holders are actively demanding the removal of these platforms. The almost instantaneous bringing back online of the servers therefore raises questions about the effectiveness of the methods used.
