Starfield n’aura pas 60fps sur Xbox Series X/S

Every Bethesda person has always answered very carefully and vaguely when asked what the target frame rate and resolution will be for Starfield on the Xbox Series consoles…until now.

Todd Howard confirms toStarfield-performance-and-frame-rate-on-xbox-series-x-and-s”>IGN that Starfield will run at 4k and 30fps on Xbox Series X, while Xbox Series S owners will have to settle for 1440p and 30fps. The reason is quite simple, although I’m sure many will question it:

“We block it at 30, because we want that loyalty, we want all that. We don’t want to sacrifice anything. »

Not surprising, given the studio’s history. Howard states something that I’ll be surprised if entirely true, however:

“Fortunately in this one, we did very well. It is often well above that. Sometimes it’s 60. But on consoles we lock it down because we prefer consistency, where you don’t even think about it. And we never want to sacrifice that experience that makes our games truly special. So it does good. We’re really happy with how we feel, even in the heat of the moment. And we need that leeway because in our games, really anything can happen. »

Will Starfield actually run at 30 fps most of the time? Of course, they don’t need to make it work on PlayStation consoles this time around, but the disappointing performance from Redfall prove that this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s easy to run a game well.

What do you think ?
