Iran confirms… nuclear deal is “closer than ever”

With the nuclear talks entering a critical stage, and amid confirmation that negotiators have indeed reached the finish line, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian made it clear yesterday evening that negotiators are closer to an agreement than ever before.

He believed that an agreement could be reached within hours if Western powers seized the opportunity and lifted sanctions on his country.

He also added in an interview with the French network “Euronews”, “We have taken many initiatives so far and have shown the required flexibility at the negotiating table, so we clearly said it is the West’s turn now to be flexible,” throwing the ball into the court of the European countries participating in the talks (Germany, France and Britain). , along with the indirectly participating United States, Russia and China.

He revealed that the file of prisoners and detainees was also raised, saying: “We declared that we are ready, whether outside the Vienna talks or on their side, to exchange prisoners when the other party is ready,” but he added, despite that, “we do not see the need to link this file to the Vienna talks.”

In addition, he reiterated that there are some remaining issues, which he described as Tehran’s red lines, are still under discussion, and stressed that Tehran has not yet received a practical initiative from the United States on the issue of guarantees.

On the possibility of the talks failing, he said: If the United States and the West do not act realistically at this sensitive stage of the talks, they will be responsible for the possible failure of the talks.

He also believed that “all issues, whether in the nuclear field or in the area of lifting sanctions, must be resolved in one package.”

He concluded, “We don’t want Biden to give us money or loans from American banks, we just want him to release our money in good faith. But so far we have been told that nothing can happen until after direct negotiations.”
