The Iranian guide, Ali Khamenei, said today, Monday, during his meeting with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, that Iran welcomes the restoration of relations with Egypt.

Khamenei met Haitham bin Tariq, who arrived Sunday in Tehran on a visit at the official invitation of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.

The Sultan of Oman arrived in Tehran at the head of a large delegation that included the ministers of defense, foreign affairs and economy.

According to the Diwan of Royal Court, the visit comes “within the framework of continued consultation and coordination between the two leaderships to discuss various developments on the regional and international arenas, and to promote all aspects of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and ways to develop them to serve their interests and aspirations, present and future.”

The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, had announced his support for the approach of President Ibrahim Raisi’s government in rapprochement with neighboring countries and distant Islamic countries, in addition to countries that share directions with Tehran.

Khamenei said, upon receiving a large group of Iranian diplomats, that the current government’s policy of establishing relations with neighbors is very important and correct.

He added, “Foreign hands are active in creating problems between Iran and its neighbors, and you must not allow this policy to materialize.”

This is the first time that Khamenei has touched on regional developments. Especially after Saudi Arabia and Iran reached an agreement last March regarding the resumption of relations and the reopening of embassies.
