“Iron Wolf” brigade commanders’ exercises begin in southern Lithuania

During the training, the command posts of the brigade units will be moved to the districts of Alytus, Varėna, Prienai, Birštonas, Druskininkai and Lazdijai, whose personnel will train to plan and execute defense operations, and the commanders, taking into account the battle situation, will train to make the necessary decisions.

In total, more than 800 soldiers and 100 units of military equipment will participate in the “Strong Wolf” training. The participants will not conduct operations exercises visible to the public, simulated ammunition and explosives will not be used.

In the exercise, together with the battalions belonging to the “Iron Wolf” brigade and the NATO Forward Forces combat group, the soldiers of Colonel Juozas Vitkaus’ engineering battalion, the National Defense Volunteer Forces and J. Basanavičius’ military medical service will train, who will plan and execute operations using battle management information systems.

Exercises are organized to train headquarters procedures, thereby strengthening command and control procedures between the brigade and subordinate battalions and other military units.

The training takes place in preparation for one of the largest international field tactics exercises this year, “Iron Wolf 2024 1”. It will be held in Jonava district in June.
