The “Five Creators’ Road” connects three municipalities – Biržai, Panevėžys and Rokiškis – and five well-known cultural figures: avant-garde filmmaker, poet Jonas Mekas, writer, film director Adolfas Mekas, theater director Juozas Miltini, journalist and translator Juozas Keliuotis and writer, pedagogue Alphonsa Keliuotis.

According to the report of the Department of Cultural Heritage, this road connects objects both according to the era they lived in and according to aspects of creativity.

The application of Jurgis Bielinis Public Library of the Biržai District Municipality was evaluated by the Committee of Experts for the Evaluation of Applications for Leveling and Certification of Cultural Roads in Lithuania.

The road route consists of 18 attractions. It includes the J. and A. Mekai legacy study center operating in the Jurgis Bielinis public library of the Biržai district municipality, the J. Miltinis memorial apartment belonging to the Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė public library of Panevėžys county, and the J. and A. Keliųuči legacy study center in Rokišky.

According to Angelė Mikelinskaitė, head librarian of the Cultural Heritage Research and Digitization Department of G. Petkevičaitė-Bite Public Library of Panevėžys County, in Panevėžys you can visit the memorial apartment of J. Miltinis, where there is his personal library, collection of works of art, and manuscripts. Juoba, that his manuscript legacy is included in the national register of the UNESCO Memory of the World program.

Alicija Matiukienė, the chairwoman of the Juoz and Alfonso Keliųučių legacy study center, said that the Keliųučii are significant not only for the Rokiški region: their work in the legendary pre-war cultural magazine “Naujoji Romuva” created the conditions for the spread of theater, literature, and film creators.

“The culture road connects cultural objects that connect the living or creative spaces of all five creators, historical events, and mutual acquaintances. On our path, there is a lot of room for human sincerity, mutual help between personalities, and the search for the values of life. Travelers will find a lot of memorable and unique cognitive cultural information,” she said in the KPD statement.

This is already the third certified cultural path of Lithuania. Previously, two national-level cultural paths were certified – the cultural path of the painter, composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and the Vėtrungiai cultural path.
