The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Sunday the signing of an agreement for the sale to Finland, a new NATO member and Russia’s neighbor, of the “David’s Sling” anti-missile defense system. The sale of the “David’s Sling” system to Finland, for an amount of 317 million euros, is “historic”, estimated the ministry in a press release.

“David’s sling is one of the world’s leading systems for intercepting advanced threats, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft and drones,” adds the same source.

Having become the 31st member of the Atlantic Alliance in April, Finland announced that it wished to equip itself with this defense system.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has shaken up security in Europe and pushed the Nordic country to want to join the protective umbrella of NATO. Finland shares a 1,300 kilometer-long border with Russia.
