The Israeli army demolished overnight from Monday to Tuesday the home of a Palestinian accused of killing two Israelis in the occupied West Bank, according to an army statement.

“Army forces destroyed last night in the Askar refugee camp in Nablus the house of terrorist Abdel Fatah Kharoucha,” the army said.

This Palestinian “had shot and killed the Hallel brothers and Yagel Yaniv in the village of Huwara on February 26,” the statement added.

A member of the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, he was killed in March in an Israeli army raid in Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

Entering during the night in Nablus, a large Palestinian city in the north of the West Bank, Israeli soldiers came out at dawn after having destroyed the home of Abdel Fatah Kharoucha, located on the 3rd floor of a building, according to the agency Palestinian Wafa press.

The Israeli policy of destroying the homes of Palestinians responsible for murderous attacks against Israelis, or making their homes uninhabitable, is decried by human rights organizations for which it is akin to collective punishment.

The Israeli government, on the contrary, claims that it has a deterrent effect.

A stronghold of Palestinian armed groups, the northern West Bank is the scene of often deadly clashes between Palestinians and the Israeli forces who carry out frequent incursions there.
