While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s tone rose against War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz, another minister from the emergency government came out to announce his resignation, on the same day that the Security Council adopted a ceasefire resolution in Gaza.

Announcement

The head of the “Tikva Hadashah” (New Hope) party said: “I signed the resignation, and I cannot bear responsibility as long as I have no influence, and we did not come to the government in order to warm the chairs.”

Hours ago, Sa’ar had threatened to resign if a solution to his request to join the Israeli war council was not reached within the next 24 hours.

He declined an offer to be an invited guest from time to time at the Israeli War Council, similar to other ministers who are invited to discussions from time to time.

Likud Party officials confirmed that Netanyahu has no other proposal to present to Saar at the present time; As any other solution may lead to obstructing matters.

The officials indicated that the introduction of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and Sa’ar into the war council would lead to the immediate withdrawal of Ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot.

The dispute intensified between Netanyahu and War Council Minister Benny Gantz after canceling the Israeli delegation’s visit to Washington, in response to the United States’ refusal to use its veto on a resolution adopted by the UN Security Council that stipulates an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the month of Ramadan.

Gantz said, “The delegation should not only go to the United States, but it would have been good for the prime minister to travel to the United States himself, and hold a direct dialogue with President Biden and senior officials.”

Netanyahu responded in a statement criticizing Gantz for proposing to make the trip, especially after Hamas praised the UN Security Council vote calling for a ceasefire without conditioning it on the release of the hostages.

The Security Council resolution requiring a ceasefire in Gaza angered Netanyahu, who immediately announced the cancellation of the Israeli delegation’s visit to Washington.

The delegation would have included Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, National Security Council Chairman Tzachi Hanegbi, and other officials, and would have discussed alternatives to the operation in Rafah in the coming hours in Washington.
