The Israeli Prime Minister fired Naftali Bennett On Saturday, mediation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as he visited Moscow before heading to Berlin and had a phone call with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
An Israeli official told Archyde.com that Bennett is coordinating his activities regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war with the United States, Germany and France.
On Saturday, Bennett held talks with the Russian President Vladimir Putin In the Kremlin, it lasted three hours, after which he went to Berlin to meet the German chancellor Olaf SchultzAccording to a spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister, who confirmed that Bennett “spoke a while ago with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after his meeting with the Russian President.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian news agencies that Putin and Bennett were “discussing the situation in Ukraine.” Bennett did not join Western countries, especially the United States, an ally of Israel, in condemning the invasion, stressing in return the strong relations with Russia and Ukraine.
Prior to his visit to Moscow, Bennett made several phone calls to Putin and Zelensky in recent days. His office had announced his departure from Moscow early on Saturday, noting that it is an exceptional step for a religious Jew who does not perform any official duties on Saturday.
Bennett’s visit is the first by a foreign leader to Russia after it invaded Ukraine on February 24.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was in Russia the day after the invasion, but his visit was long scheduled. It was widely considered to have come at a bad time.
On Monday, Khan defended the visit, the first by a Pakistani prime minister to Russia in more than two decades. “My foreign policy is independent and visits to China and Russia will prove beneficial for Pakistan in the future,” he said in a televised address.
