(CNN)– Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said in a press conference on Saturday that Qatar funds Hamas and must work to help release the hostages held in Gaza.
The Israeli Prime Minister said: “Qatar hosts Hamas leaders, and even funds them.”
Netanyahu added of Qatar: “They are presenting themselves as mediators. Well, let them prove it and help return the hostages.”
The Israeli Prime Minister was asked about a leaked audio recording broadcast on Israeli television on Tuesday in which he appears to criticize Qatar for not putting enough pressure on Hamas.
Netanyahu said: “I will not take back even a single word of what I said. I will not give up on putting pressure on Hamas or anyone who can influence Hamas to return our hostages.”
Netanyahu also touched on diplomatic relations between Israel and Egypt, in light of continuing tensions on the border.
The Israeli Prime Minister said, “The relationship with Egypt is good. Egypt needs to say some things. They have their own interests and I have ours.”
