He had notable success in 2016 with The Dream Gang. Italian writer and playwright Luca Di Fulvio died at the age of 66 on Wednesday May 31, his publishers announced on Thursday. “It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Luca Di Fulvio, at the age of sixty-six”wrote Pocket editions on Twitter.

Luca Di Fulvio, born in Rome in 1957, was the author of Mother Rome, prisoners of freedom or children of venice. His successful work The Dream Gang is a family saga set in 1920s New York. The writer, particularly popular in Germany and France, “had just read the proofs of his latest book, The Hidden Paradise, to be published on August 23”said its publisher Slatkine & Cie on Instagram.

In a video posted in April on his Instagram account, the author, visibly weakened, had mentioned the disease of Charcot from which he was suffering, thanking his readers and his relatives for their support. It is a neurological disease that atrophies the muscles.
