The last few years of Mr. Olympia have made it clear that the judges like big athletes and bodybuilders, like reigning double champion Big Ramy. But not everyone agrees with this criterion, hence the controversies in recent editions of the competition.

The 2022 Olympia Open is expected to be high-altitude, but with Big Ramy as the sure winner. Ramy’s size has many believing that he will win his third consecutive title as it is almost unmatched. Other competitors have grown in size, but Flex Wheeler believes this is not the way to go.

William Bonac has become one of the favorites to compete with Ramy on stage in December. He brought an impressive physique to the 2022 Arnold Classic and many thought he should have been crowned champion. Instead, he finished as runner-up to Brandon Curry.

During the 2021 Olympia, Bonac finished sixth but significantly improved his physique. He won the Boston Pro this year and will now put the finishing touches on his physique heading into December.

“Posing well is also very important”

And these are the tips that Wheeler gives in the face of this important appointment: “I also made that mistake in my time as an elite bodybuilder chasing the great Ronnie Coleman, but it was a mistake. I got bigger and bigger, but I didn’t improve the best version of myself. And in bodybuilding, in addition to bulk and size, you’re looking for proportion, definition, symmetry and balance, as well as good posing. It’s about being a better overall bodybuilder, not just about be bigger.”

And he added: “I don’t give a damn about how you look an hour before competing; the key is that five, ten or fifteen minutes before you are ready to give everything, and concentrated. And posing the same, any opportunity you have to show yourself always adds up And this year’s Mr. Olympia is going to be a dogfight.” (The 15 Most Muscular and Strongest Bodybuilders in History).
