Indeed, in the middle of a public session, Philippe Godin, mayor of Pepinster, a municipality among the most devastated during the floods in mid-July, accused the opposition councilor of having misappropriated donations intended for the disaster victims. Coal precisely… In the general astonishment created by this announcement, the man, put up against the wall, confessed his fault.
On December 15, in fact, while he was active in the heart of the donation center of the station, he asked a coal transporter, generously offered by a cooperative to help the victims, to have one delivered. half-ton in a house located in Goffontaine. “In fact, I shouldn’t. I am going to repair and I will bring the money for the kilos of coal into the communal fund. It will be done.”, he declared before leaving the session, under the furious criticism of other elected officials.
While his party has already demanded his resignation, it is through social networks that the man is now trying to clear his honor…
“I am in the house of relatives whom I wanted to help by giving them 500kg of coal which had been provided to me during a donation and which I had also brought to the municipal administration in part. Indeed, these loved ones are not affected”, he explains again. “We are on the heights of Pepinster. But it’s not just the victims who are suffering, there are other people; poverty was already affecting others before the floods, and it still is after. My concept of aid since mid-July has been to help the victims of course, but also all those in need”
And to specify again that “this donation was made for the needs of all those in need, disaster or in need”.
In this video again, the man specifies that he has already ordered 500 kg of coal to supply them to the municipal administration.
