Here’s how to ruin a great vacation as a couple. Mauro and his wife Wendy, from Genk, enjoyed a wonderful stay in Italy. But everything was ruined yesterday when arriving at Venice airport to return to Belgium.
“We were at Venice airport at 4 p.m. for the 6.25 p.m. flight. At 7 p.m. we received the message that the flight was delayed until 10 p.m. A disappointment for about two hundred people who had to take the same plane for Charleroi. At 8 p.m. there was another announcement that the flight was delayed until 10:30 p.m. I already had a feeling that the flight was canceled and things were going to go wrong. And yes, at 9 p.m. everyone was informed that the flight had been cancelled, ”says the Belgian to the Nieuwsblad.
Mauro and Wendy therefore had to find an alternative and headed for Bologna airport for a flight scheduled for Friday at 9am. To do this, they took a 4am train and a taxi. But once they got there, it wasn’t all that simple as their new flight was once delayed.
“The 9 a.m. flight is also delayed,” Mauro told our colleagues. Finally, it seems that the couple was finally able to return this morning… but in Eindhoven. “We are both exhausted. When the flight arrives in Eindhoven, we will not have reached our destination for a long time. We still have to go from Eindhoven to Charleroi. My car is still there. Then it’s another hour and a half drive to Genk (…) In any case, it’s the worst end to the vacation we could have imagined”.
