Bunia, March 12, 2024 – Enormous material damage was recorded in the Gety health zone, after the passage last Sunday March 10 of a violent wind accompanied by rain, capital of the Walendu Bindi chiefdom in the territory of Irumu in Ituri province.
This alert is from the civil protection of Ituri, its coordinator speaks of the damage to the building used by this health structure, while indicating that several valuable goods which were there including the necessary administrative and private documents are wet by the rainwater.
“Violent winds accompanied by rains were observed in the Chiefdom of Walendu Bindi and precisely in Gety and surrounding areas, material damage was recorded, the case of damage to the building used by the Gety Health Zone in Gety. Several valuable goods including several administrative and private documents wet by rainwater,” confirmed Robert Njalonga.
Faced with this situation caused by the natural disaster which risks having serious consequences on local society, civil protection is launching an SOS to the government and its partners to come to the rescue in order to respond to post-incident problems.
Note that this series of incidents caused by the natural disaster is not the first to occur in the Walendu Bindi chiefdom. We still remember in 2023 when several students were struck by lightning in a classroom in a school in this same chiefdom.
