The horrific death of 13-year-old Jacksonville resident Tristyn B. caused great dismay last year. On the one hand because the student had been stabbed in a bestial way, on the other hand because the alleged perpetrator was hardly older than her. A year later, the parents are now commenting on the tragic loss of their daughter for the first time.

After Trystin B.’s death: Aiden F. charged as an adult

“As a family, we remain devastated and overcome with sadness at the loss of Tristyn,” said Tristyn’s mother and father. “Over time, we learn how to deal with carrying that loss. We draw our greatest strength from our love for Tristyn and seek to honor her memory in harmony with her spirit.”

The trial against the now 15-year-old Aiden F. is scheduled to begin in November. Despite his young age, the student is accused like an adult – because his act was so incredibly brutal.

Aiden F.: “Hey guys, has anyone seen Tristyn lately?”

During interrogation, Aiden F. is said to have admitted that he tried to kiss Tristyn in a forest. When she rejected him, he stabbed her “as if insane,” the teenager told police officers.

The then 14-year-old showed no remorse. After his arrest, he still sent out footage from the police car and made jokes, writing: “Hey guys, has anyone seen Tristyn lately?” You can see the scene in the video above.

In six months, Aiden F. will have to answer for the terrible act in court. He faces several decades in prison. (jda)
