Jai Shriram call by fans to Mohammed Shami; Rohit Sharma responded

Ahmedabad: Indian captain Rohit Sharma responded to the incident where a group of fans in the gallery called Jai Shriram at Indian pacer Mohammed Shami during the fourth cricket test against Australia. Rohit expressed his stand on the matter in a press conference held after the fourth Test ended in a draw.

This is the first time I have heard of such an incident. I don’t know anything about that. I don’t know what happened there, said Rohit. Just before the start of the first day of the Ahmedabad Test, when the Indian players were fielding near the boundary line, fans from the gallery called Shami by name and called Jai Sriram.

“Shami… Jai Shree Ram”…

If this indeed happened before the start of the 4th test of the in Ahmedabad, it makes me puke at the insensitivity from certain pricks.

I’d ban these fellows from attending any games here after! pic.twitter.com/AYHK2W5suw

A group of fans in the gallery first called the Indian players by name, who were standing near the boundary. Surya raised his hand to the fans who called Suryakumar Yadav by his name and reciprocated. Then the fans chanted Jai Shriram loudly. After this he was called by the name of Mohammad Shami and called Jai Shriram. Shami did not respond to the fans’ calls. There was severe criticism on the social media against the behavior of the fans.

Will my work be splashed? Ashwin to Pujara who bowled! India’s second wall with a classic reply

India won the four-match series 2-1 after the fourth Test in Ahmedabad ended in a draw. India won the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi, while Australia won the third Test in Indore. India reached the final of the World Test Championship despite a draw in the Ahmedabad Test after New Zealand’s dramatic Test win over Sri Lanka.
