Jaime Lozano led Mexico to the Gold Cup final as interim coach and some are already asking for him as a permanent strategist, but he is aware that he was only hired for the zone tournament.
“I came for a Gold Cup and that’s how it is in my head. We will do our best to return the cup home. Maybe if you (Rubén Rodríguez, Fox Sports journalist) were there (in the Federation) I would continue, ”he said at a press conference.
“I am the ones I am most grateful to (with the managers). Three months ago I was unemployed and there was a person in that box who believed in me and you don’t need everyone to trust you, you just need the decision maker to trust you,” he continued.

Jaime Lozano thanks the players
As he has done throughout the Gold Cup, Jaime Lozano gave credit to the soccer players and thanked those selected for their dedication.
“I have always liked to surround myself with people better than me and they (players) have always bought that idea. I just have to thank the confidence for the way in which they deliver and follow the game plan.
“Teamwork is more a decision than a virtue and they decided they wanted to be the best team in this Cup and return the cup home,” he said at the conference.

The process to the 2026 World Cup
Jaime Lozano insisted that there must be a process in the Mexican National Team and that it not only last a World Cup, because that prevents Mexico from exploiting its potential.
“Whoever is here (DT from Mexico), I would like to see that process, because surely after a couple of World Cups we would be a stronger team because of the player, the idea of the game and the understanding that we could have,” he concluded.
