Jake Allen’s turn to fall in battle

Jake Allen is injured in the upper body and the Montreal Canadiens goaltender will not be in the lineup for the game against the Seattle Kraken at the Bell Center on Monday (7:30 p.m. ET; RDS, SN, ROOT-NW).

Allen is re-evaluated on a weekly basis, and Samuel Montembeault will get the start. His injury is added to those of Sean Monahan (lower body), Mike Matheson (lower body) and Kaiden Guhle (lower body).

Cayden Primeau was urgently recalled from the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League (AHL) and will act as an auxiliary on Monday.

Primeau is 4-6-3 with a 3.65 goals-against average, .890 save percentage and 13 shutouts with Laval this season. His last game in the NHL dates back to March 15, 2022, when he relieved Montembeault against the Arizona Coyotes.

Drafted in the seventh round (199th overall) by the Canadiens in 2017, Primeau is 3-10-2 with a 4.21 GAA and .874 save percentage in 18 career games (15 starts). in the NHL.

Furthermore, the attacker Mike Hoffman will return to the Habs squad against the Kraken, after being sidelined in the last two games. He will take the place of Anthony Richard.

Hoffman has 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 28 games this season and has just one goal and two assists in his most recent 11 games. After scoring his first career NHL goal in his second game with the Canadiens on Dec. 21, Richard was limited to one assist in five outings. He was employed for just 4:49 in a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
