James O’Keefe and Cam Higby charged over Minnesota voting video

Conservative video creators James O’Keefe and Cam Higby face felony charges in Minnesota following an undercover stunt at a Minneapolis polling place during the August primary election, Hennepin County prosecutors announced.

Felony Summonses Issued Over Undercover Precinct Visit

County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced summonses for both men on charges of unlawful voting and identity theft.

Investigators found the pair visited multiple precincts and gave election judges the names of registered voters without their knowledge or permission. If O’Keefe and Higby fail to appear in court, arrest warrants will be issued, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The Burqa Disguise and the Footage

The footage, titled ‘I Wore Burqa To EXPOSE Election FRAUD In Minneapolis’, shows Higby dressed in a full-face veil pretending to be a Muslim woman. O’Keefe wears mock Muslim attire and adopts a heavy accent.

In the video, the pair claim they are not touching actual ballots or attempting to commit voter fraud, but rather testing vulnerabilities in Minnesota election procedures.

Vouching Rules and Legal Arguments

Under Minnesota state law, a registered voter may vouch for up to eight other voters from the same precinct. This allows those individuals to cast ballots without showing photo identification, provided the voucher signs a perjury-vulnerable oath.

Moriarty conceded during a press conference that neither man signed a vouching oath. However, she maintained they still intentionally misrepresented their identities to election judges when applying for ballots.

Targeting Regulations and Ongoing Proceedings

Responding to the charges on X, Higby wrote that he was not afraid of Minnesota. Summonses remain active as the case moves toward court proceedings.
