Czech singer-songwriter Jan Neckář has announced his departure from the Bacilli band, a group he shared with his brother,
Václav. The split comes after months of tension and according too Jan, a feeling that the band had reached its natural conclusion.
“Last January we ended up with the Bacilli band, as I have the opinion that we are already done. I did not forbid him, but we were no longer at the best, but for the best. As I would say, we were over the line. My brother hires friends of musicians and sometimes do something somewhere, but I don’t want to be there anymore,” Neckář resolutely stated to Super.cz.
Differing Paths
While Jan Neckář feels the time has come for a new chapter, his brother Václav seems unfazed by the split. He remains dedicated to touring and performing with Bacilli. In April and May, Václav Neckář will embark on concert tours, playing in Tišnov, strakonice, and Slovakia.
“In December I had two recitals in Tábor and Prague in Malostranská beseda. Now in April I will go to moravia to Tišnov and in May to Strakonice. Then I have a tour in Slovakia.I am looking forward to it, I am used to serve me,” Václav stated confidently to the press conference for the renewed premiere of the musical Soap Prince.

“Last January,we decided to conclude our journey with the Bacilli band. I felt it had naturally run its course. It wasn’t a feud or anything dramatic, but rather a sense that we had reached a point where our individual paths needed to diverge. We weren’t quite on the same page creatively anymore and I felt it was best to move on.”
How has your brother Václav responded to this change?
“Václav is still very much devoted to bacilli and is actively touring and performing. He’s bringing in new musicians and keeping the band alive, which is great. We both have a genuine love for music, just expressing it in different ways now.”
Do you see any possibility of future collaborations with Václav, perhaps on a smaller scale or even individual projects?
“I’m open to anything. We’re brothers and music is in our blood. while bacilli is no more, there’s always the possibility of working together in a new capacity down the line. We’ll see what the future holds.”

“I’m excited to focus on my solo work and explore new creative directions. I have some exciting ideas brewing and I can’t wait to share them with the world. The future holds unlimited possibilities, and I’m ready to embrace them.”

“Thank you for your unwavering support over the years. The journey with Bacilli was truly special, and I’ll always cherish the memories we created together. While this chapter is closing, another one is just beginning, and I hope you’ll continue to support me on my solo path.”
