Released last November Jason Aldean With Macon the first part – now the second part follows with Georgia, his musical homage to his homeland, city and state. Aldean proudly: “The place you grew up has a huge impact on who you become and it’s no different for me – especially musically. My small hometown of Macon was very important to my musical background. Growing up in an environment where country music, southern rock, blues and R&B crossed paths, it was natural for me to mix the different sounds in my own way. ‘Georgia’ picks up right there.”

Now that “Macon” was a few months ago and the trade press and fans alike praised the long player, “Georgia” is now the eagerly awaited successor or the second part of his two “homeland tribute albums”!
Already “Whiskey Me Away” sets the clear musical direction: The chorus is immediately catchy, the sound is intoxicating and the song extremely entertaining. It’s good to continue like this! It does too, because his current single – “Trouble With A Heartbreak” is in no way inferior – absolutely potential hit. Two great country rock ballads follow with “The State I’m In” and “Midnight And Missin’ You”, sometimes melancholic, sometimes romantic – but always Aldean, always to the point. With “Ain’t Enough Cowboy” and “God Made Airplanes” two potential hits, the latter absolutely has to be released as a single by the label … success in the charts inevitable.
With “My Weakness”, “Holy Water” and “Rock And Roll Cowboy” it continues comfortably in mid-tempo, wonderful songs that reflect the certain basic mood of the album – before a special title follows: “Your Mama” sets that at the end Sign that the previous songs were slowly but surely hinting at… it ties everything together, the story of Aldean, it seems. So last but not least a pure, soulful country song that sends goosebumps down your spine after the other. Wonderful final chord!
15 songs – including five live recordings. Aldean explains, “We’ve always tried to do more songs rather than fewer. This album is no different. We decided to include some live recordings that we’ve had in stock for a while. After nine albums and 16 years of recording, I hope people can see that I wanted to make this tenth album fun and different from anything we’ve done before.”
Conclusion: Jason Aldean has two fantastic albums out with “Macon, Georgia”; without exception cool, contemporary “modern country songs” with interesting stories that tell something about him, his family, his environment and his homeland. Bravo Mr. Aldean – this is country music at its best!
