“It is time, indeed, to put an end to this spiral. We must be able to protect citizens, (…) and for this, three dimensions are necessary: first, strengthening the means of the police and justice. secondly, it is absolutely necessary to attack the trafficking networks. And finally, we also need to tackle weapons. It is extremely important to control, limit and prohibit the possession of weapons“.

But how does he intend to go about putting an end to this scourge? “We have a proposal in our program which aims to reverse the burden of proof. Today, in this drug trafficking, there are hundreds of thousands of euros circulating every day. We must be able to reverse the burden of proof. This means that someone, who sees hundreds of thousands of euros passing through their bank account, the justice system and the police must be able to intervene and say: ‘Tell us how this is possible when your salary is not not at this height’“.
This is the exact opposite of what is happening today, which risks causing a lot of noise. “I think it is very important, when faced with this kind of situation, to take strong measures. Reversing the burden of proof also allows people to explain where this money comes from. And very often they need to launder this money“, explains the co-president.
