Surveillance video captured the moment a 32-year-old man reached for a handgun during a fight in front of a Southeast Side home, leading to a shooting that hospitalized two men, one with life-threatening injuries, KSAT reported. John Massey was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Clark Avenue Clash Turns Violent on Halloween
The incident began Nov. 1 in the 5400 block of Clark Avenue, where a fight erupted in front of a residence. The affidavit details how Massey was seen arguing with a person before he reached for a handgun holstered on his body. As the victim and a second man charged at Massey to stop him from drawing his weapon, a gunshot rang out. Massey then emerged from behind a parked vehicle, the firearm in his hand, according to court records.
Second Victim’s Account of the West ER Visit
A second victim arrived at a West Side emergency room with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He told police he attended a Halloween party with Massey and that two groups of friends arrived at the location before a fight broke out between them. The victim said he heard a gunshot but did not realize he had been shot. Massey drove him to a gas station where his mother picked him up before he was taken to the hospital. The victim, who has known Massey for about two years, positively identified him from a photo, the affidavit states.
Massey Booked and Released
Massey was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and has since been released on bond, records show.
