Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard: Why did they go to trial?
Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for 50 million dollars for defamation, after she published an article in the Washington Post claiming that she was a victim of domestic violencebut never mentioned Depp’s name as such.
Depp’s defense claims that his name is implied since they had just separated and Heard filed a restraining order against Depp, which was made public by TMZmeans to which, supposedly, Amber contacted to give them the exclusive.
For her part, Amber Heard countersued for double: 100 million dollars, arguing that she too was a victim of defamation after Johnny Depp, and her defense at the time, They called her a “liar” for her statements.
