After the endorsement of the extradition of the judge of guarantees, the Court of Appeals of Valdivia held a hearing on Monday and could rule in the next few hours so that the leader of the Mapuche Ancestral Resistance (RAM) is taken to Chile to fulfill his sentence of 9 years in prison.
Once the Court of Valdivia approves the extradition, the request will arrive in Argentina through the Chilean Foreign Ministry.

“After listening to the arguments of the parties, the courtroom of the Court of Appeals of Valdivia is already in a position to resolve. We hope that it will be in the course of the afternoon, tomorrow or the next few days, given the urgency that this case requires,” said Rio Bueno prosecutor Sergio Fuentes.
Although there are no defined deadlines, in Chile everything could be resolved this month and then extradition will depend on the timing of the Argentine courts.

Jones Huala was convicted in December 2018 for “arson attacks and possession of weapons” in Chile.
After having served the first three years in prison in Temuco, in January 2022, the Chilean justice system granted him conditional release.
However, shortly after, the Supreme Court of the neighboring country again ordered the arrest of Jones Huala, who managed to escape to Argentinafor which a blue alert was issued by Interpol, the international police, and he remained a fugitive until last week, when the Río Negro Police finally found him in a shed in Río Negro.
