Jong Sparta settles after an early deficit with Lisse – Sparta Rotterdam

February 17, 2024 – 5:27 PM

Jong Sparta Rotterdam recorded a victory over FC Lisse this afternoon. The Kasteellords fell behind after one minute, but quickly equalized through Sergi Rosanas. Thanks to goals from Dano Lourens and Dean Zandbergen, Jong Sparta achieved a 3-1 victory.

Trainer Jeff Stans had a big puzzle to solve this afternoon, as has often been the case this season. The first team and Jong Sparta will be in action again on the same day this weekend, meaning Kaylen Reitmaier, Hamza el Dahri and Rayvien Rosario have moved on to the A-selection. In addition, Max de Ligt, Augustin Drakpe and Giovanni Mulumba are still injured and Jay den Haan is suspended. Dylan Tevreden was the logical replacement for Reitmaier under the bar this afternoon. At the back, Stans again had Sergi Rosanas at his disposal, who started just like 16-year-old Giannino Vianello. In midfield, Ayoni Santos made his starting debut and Jorn Triep returned from injury. Furthermore, Dano Lourens started as striker and Ayoub Oufkir was preferred to Mehmet Yüksel.

Earlier this season the score was 4-7 in Lisse and it looked like we were heading for the same kind of result this afternoon. After just over one minute of play, FC Lisse already took the lead. Remi van Ekeris’ corner kick was not touched by anyone and fell straight into the goal behind Dylan Tevreden: 0-1. One minute later, Jong Sparta leveled the score again. A corner from Ayoub Oufkir was headed in by Sergi Rosanas: 1-1. For example, a new edition between Jong Sparta and Lisse again had a spectacular start, but not much happened after that. Lisse dropped back to his own half and gave Jong Sparta the ball. Yet the visitors had an opportunity for a new lead. Van Ekeris came in on the left side of the field, but curled the ball over Tevreden’s goal.

Jong Sparta had shown little up until then, but took the lead after just half an hour of play. The Kasteelheren scored again from a corner kick, although this time it was preceded by a scrimmage. Jorn Triep initially encountered goalkeeper Joost Meendering, after which Jaïr Haakmat’s rebound was cleared off the line. Ultimately, Dano Lourens was still able to provide a Spartan lead. In the last fifteen minutes of the first half the chances were Lisse’s again. First, Jaap Zwetsloot was the end of a flashy attack, after which the attacker shot the ball wildly. Just before half time, Max Hudepohl could not make things difficult for Tevreden from a free kick. Toon Zwetsloot managed to do that in injury time in the first half. However, the defender’s long shot was tapped over by the goalie.

Jong Sparta took the lead halfway through, but Stans was not completely satisfied with the game shown. After the trainer was forced to take Aymane Bais to the side halfway through the first half, Stans made two more substitutions at half-time. Dean Zandbergen and Mehmet Yüksel came for Triep and Oufkir. The first chance of the second half did not take long to arrive. With a beautiful through ball, Luuk brought Admiraal Lourens into scoring position, but he shot over. Young Sparta started the second half stronger, but saw the momentum change after an hour of play. Van Ekeris already delivered a pinprick and was very close to the equalizer after 63 minutes of play. Out of position, the scorer shot against the post. One minute later, Hudepohl missed a huge opportunity to make it 2-2. The wing attacker’s effort went wide.

Jong Sparta ultimately came through this phase of Lisse unscathed, although the match was of course by no means decided. Admiral could have brought the red and white closer to three points fifteen minutes before the end, but saw his slider go past the wrong side of the post. Two minutes later the score was 3-1. After a wonderful combination, Lourens laid the ball perfectly for Zandbergen. The striker remained cool and shot convincingly. A real final offensive from Lisse was not possible for a long time. It was even Admiraal who missed a great chance to make it 4-1, after an excellent pass from Marvin Young. Qiniso Ngobese could have created an exciting ending just before injury time started, but shot wide.
