As Persik Kediri continues the 2026-27 BRI Super League campaign, Spanish striker Sergio Castel is steadily working his way back to full match fitness.
Castel’s gradual return has unfolded across the club’s last three league fixtures. Due to his recent recovery timeline, the Spanish import has entered each match from the bench as a substitute for his compatriot, Jose Enrique.
The comeback commenced away against Madura United, where Castel logged 12 minutes of action. He then featured for 22 minutes during Persik Kediri’s away fixture against Persib Bandung. Most recently, he saw 24 minutes on the field as the squad commonly known as Macan Putih secured a 2-1 victory over PSS Sleman at home in Kediri.
Jose Enrique Welcomes the Prospect of a Spanish Partnership
With Castel rounding into better physical condition, Jose Enrique has expressed a strong desire to share the pitch with his fellow countryman. While acknowledging that tactical choices rest entirely with the technical staff, Enrique believes a joint attacking partnership could benefit the team.
Saya siap main dengan siapa saja. Ya, saya pribadi senang jika di pertandingan berikutnya bisa tandem dengan Sergio Castel. Nanti pelatih Marcos Reina yang memutuskannya,
said Jose Enrique.
Praising Castel’s professional background and technical attributes, Enrique highlighted the positive impact his teammate brings to the squad dynamic both on and off the pitch. Under coach Marcos Reina, the integration of both foreign forwards remains an option for future tactical setups.
Sergio Castel orang baik. Dia pemain berkualitas. Karena sudah fit, saya menunggu bisa main dengan dia. Kita lihat saja nanti, suatu saat kami akan kerja bersama di lini depan Persik Kediri,
added Jose Enrique.
