José Neto leaves Petro de Luanda without explaining – Jornal OPaís

Petro de Luanda’s basketball management broke the contractual relationship it had with the Brazilian coach, José Neto, without giving any explanation.

The coach, who guided the team in the BAL, African Basketball League, whose first phase took place in South Africa and even managed to qualify for the other phase, in Rwanda, between May and next June, also did not make any statement to the press.

In the corridors of Petro de Luanda, according to a source from the basketball department, he said that it is a matter that is being managed under lock and key, because some details still need to be resolved between the parties.

However, everything indicates that in South Africa things did not go well between the parties and it is clear that the Angolan five have been chasing a BAL title for a long time and it has not been easy.

José Neto arrived in the country, on behalf of the oil formation in 2020, but saw an immediate interruption from the other side and so the team is being provisionally guided by Raul Duarte and Victor de Carvalho.

Working for Petro de Luanda, he won three consecutive national titles, two Angolan Cups, four Super Cups and obtained reasonable results in the Basketball League with 3rd, 2nd and 4th places in the last three years and was elected coach of the year on three occasions.
