Your beginnings?
Joséphine Tassy: I studied public policies, economics, cognitive sciences, languages… Today, alongside writing, I am a researcher.

L’Indésir is a novel that recounts the mourning of a mother, Nuria, in a detached way.
I wanted to deal with this subject through the how, and not the why. I didn’t want to waste the reader’s time, or waste my own time, but rather create a story that I hadn’t read yet. That of a bereavement that we can’t overcome, because we don’t know what to feel. I think it’s a fantasy, the idea that when you’re grieving, you suddenly can’t live your life anymore. I wanted to work on drama in a life that wouldn’t be dramatic.

The memories are punctuated by several characters.
I spent a lot of time with my characters, I wanted them to please me and amuse me. Initially, I created a list of archetypes, with the grieving lover, the bourgeois, the seductive showgirl, etc. I wanted to work on them to the point of understanding what these archetypes can hide.

Mourning mingles with a light and recent love story. What is the meaning of linking love and mourning?
This void is the questioning of the present following the news. His meeting with Abel makes it possible to realize that it is possible in dramatic moments to live a rebirth. This could lead to love, but it is really a rebirth of desire.

Why Iconoclast editions?
I chose this house because it is interested in youth, trying to bring out what did not exist before. I hope to follow this line.

Your expectations for the book?
I hope to meet people who correspond to me thanks to this book. Writers and artists and that we can create together.
