NASA‘s Glenn Research Center proudly sent out a congratulations to quarterback Joshua Dobbswho made his debut for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday with a 31-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Dobbs, 28, graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2017 with a degree in aerospace engineering. He has a perfect grade-point average and would have been a qualified astronaut, but instead wanted a career in the NFL as a quarterback.

“Congratulations [Josh Dobbs] on yesterday’s big win,” NASA tweeted. “Looks like you rock(et) on and off the field. We heard you’ve even got a new nickname, the ‘Passtronaut.’ If the suit fits, wear it.”

The post was accompanied by a photo showing Dobbs wearing an astronaut suit and carrying some kind of mineral. Despite claims that the nickname is not new, not many fans had heard it before the tweet.

Pat McAfee was one of those who had never heard of the “Passtronaut” as a nickname for Dobbs, but he loved it, and one of his co-hosts on ESPN added “Pocket Scientist” as another perfect moniker.

Vikings only had Dobbs, rookie Jaren Hall and running back Cam Akers on their roster as quarterbacks. Hall (concussion) got the start before leaving the game with injury in the first quarter.

Dobbs had no time to practice or study the playbook before Sunday’s win over the Falcons. He didn’t even know the full names of several of his offensive teammates, but connected with a wide receiver in crunch time to win the game.

The journeyman is on his fifth team in less than a year. Dobbs started this season with the Arizona Cardinalswhere he upset the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell gave Dobbs the game ball and said he had never seen somebody as smart as him.
