Around a thousand maxillofacial surgical interventions, ranging from complex to simple, have been carried out from January to date, at the Josina Machel Hospital, said this Tuesday, in Luanda, doctor Agnelo Lucamba.
In 2022, 720 maxillofacial surgical interventions were carried out in this health unit.
Speaking to ANGOP, the maxillofacial specialist said that the surgeries were used to correct deformities, cleft lip, cleft palate and jaw fractures.
The surgeon said that Josina Machel Hospital receives more cases of infections and traumas, and can handle, on average, 15 to 18 cases a week. Agnelo Lucamba spoke about the lack of rehabilitation material to consolidate fractures.
