Julian Assange will not be extradited for the time being: High Court demands guarantees 2024-03-26 17:20:07

Dhe Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is allowed to appeal against a British decision to extradite him to the United States. The British High Court decided this on Tuesday and demanded new guarantees from Washington. Two judges in London gave U.S. government lawyers three weeks to ensure “satisfactorily” that Assange would be protected by free speech laws if tried in the U.S. and would not face the death penalty.

Assange, who is imprisoned in London, faces conviction in the USA for, among other things, treason because his disclosure platform published confidential information about the actions of the American military. Many supporters, however, see Assange as a journalist who uncovered alleged war crimes.
