July’s full moon, also known as the “Deer Moon” will light up the night sky tomorrow, Sunday, July 21.
The full moon will grace the sky for regarding three days and peak on Sunday evening. This is the last “normal” full moon before the appearance of four consecutive “super-full moons”.
Deer Full Moon: Why is it called that?
The name “Deer Full Moon” arose because according to tradition every year at this time the new antlers of the male deer began to emerge from their foreheads, “covered” with velvety and soft fur.
Nevertheless, it retains some other names such as: “Full Moon of Lightning”, “Full Moon of Hay”, “Full Moon of Water Honey”.
