Junior women’s epee team wins silver in South American

Asunción, IP Agency.- The U20 junior women’s epee team won the silver medal on the last day of the South American Fencing Rosario 2024 (Argentina), thus obtaining the first medal for Paraguayan fencing in this competition.

The team is made up of Janine Hanspach, Luciana García, Jimena Cabrera and Ana Paula Gallardo, the latter two from the U15 category (under 15 years old).

In the first round they achieved a great victory against Argentina with the score 45 to 41; Then in the semifinals they defeated Chile 39 to 34, in an exciting fight that was decided in the last seconds. It is worth highlighting the valuable contribution of coach Juan Lucas who strategically directed the contest, and ensured that the athletes exhibited their best performance in each round.

In the last match, the compatriots lost to Brazil 45 to 27 and were left with a valuable Silver medal, which serves and motivates them for the Pan American Youth Games that will be held in Asunción next year.
