The Central Meteorological Administration continued to issue onshore typhoon warnings over the Kanu Sea in Central Taiwan. In northern Taiwan, intermittent heavy rain continued early this morning, and the winds also increased significantly. The latest data shows that the typhoon will be closest to Taiwan from tonight to tomorrow morning, and because it is about to turn, the speed tends to slow down, and the impact time will be prolonged. Meteorological expert Wu Derong pointed out that Kanu has a “corner effect”, with strong winds in the north and Hengchun Peninsula. Is it possible to have another typhoon holiday tomorrow? The Central Weather Service thinks the chances are low.

The Central Meteorological Bureau issued a heavy rain warning.

Kanu is located on the sea surface about 370 kilometers northeast of Taipei this morning, and the center is stagnant. It is estimated that after the Pacific high pressure weakens, the typhoon will be pushed northeastward by the southwest wind. Currently, Keelung, Yilan, New Taipei, and Taipei are on land alert. The wind has become stronger since today. Tonight and tomorrow morning will be the closest to Kanu and the most serious impact. At the same time, the Meteorological Bureau issued a heavy rain forecast for 11 counties and cities, and a strong wind forecast for the northern part, Yilan, and the coast of the Hengchun Peninsula.

Wu Derong specifically pointed out that the biggest threat to Kanu is the establishment of the “southwest monsoon” pattern. From now until next Tuesday (8th), there will be heavy rain, especially in the central and southern regions on the windward side. Pay attention to continuous rain and even the accompanying severe weather. The temperature in various places today: 25 to 30 degrees in the north, 25 to 33 degrees in the middle, 26 to 33 degrees in the south, and 24 to 37 degrees in the east.

According to the model simulation, today and tomorrow will be affected by the edge or outer circulation of the Kanu storm circle, and the rain in northern Taiwan and the central and southern regions will increase; Hualien and Taitung on the leeward side will be less affected, and there will be a chance of burning wind. Although the Hengchun Peninsula is farthest from the storm circle, due to the “corner effect”, it has the strongest westerly wind with gusts of magnitude 9 to 10, and there are also strong gusts along the coast of northern Taiwan.
