The singer Karen Bejarano was invited to the podcast The Ellas Showwhere she talked about different aspects of her life and her time on television, thus revealing that she had refused to be the protagonist of Mega’s youth soap opera, EsCool (2005).
During the conversation, the former Mekano declassified the reasons why she declined the leading role, Claudia Mondaca, who was finally played by Ximena Abarca, the winner of Protagonists of Fame.
“La Xime arrived (to Mekano) because I rejected the leading role of that soap opera,” Karen Paola started counting, according to what was recorded Page 7.
“They had asked me to be the protagonist, at first I said yes, and when I realized that I had to eat half of Chile, I said ‘no, no, girl…’. Because I was flirting with Juan Pedro (Verdier) ”, she explained her reasons for staying with the secondary role in the production.
Likewise, Karen explained that “I am super faithful, I am super loyal, and unconditional. I’m not going to do it to my boyfriend.”
“They played us super shady games”
After this, the singer questioned the dynamics that existed in Mekano, assuring that “at that time, they played us super shady games. The rubber band (…) obviously bothered you, because there were people who would go to the top anyway”.
“They played a lot with that, and somehow, I feel, that they made us all insecure,” he confessed.
For the same reason, Karen preferred not to accept the leading role of the youth soap opera. “When this proposal came, at first I said yes, and then I said ‘chu… no, because I’m going to have to kiss with this one, with this one, with this one.’ I don’t want that and I don’t want to be an actress either. So, I’ll pass.”
The singer also revealed that, after rejecting the role, “there was a big shit left, they got really angry with me.”
Finally, he said that by then Ximena had left the reality show, so they decided to contact her for the production.
