Kazakhstan eGov Data Breach Alleged by Hacker, Authorities Investigate

Kazakhstan’s state authorities have launched a formal security investigation following an online claim by a hacker asserting that sensitive data belonging to the country’s electronic government, or eGov, service has been compromised and exfiltrated.

The breach notification surfaced on an online cybercrime forum, where an unidentified individual published a post claiming unauthorized access to core digital infrastructure operated by the Central Asian republic. The compromised assets allegedly include backend records and citizen information managed through the unified portal, which handles a vast array of public services, tax filings, and identity verifications for millions of citizens.

State agencies responsible for digital development, information security, and national intelligence immediately initiated technical probes to verify the authenticity of the hacker’s claims. Technicians and cybersecurity specialists are currently auditing system logs, examining database access points, and testing network perimeters to determine whether an actual intrusion occurred or if the published dataset consists of older, previously scraped, or falsified information.

Government representatives have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, with no official confirmation yet released regarding the scale or veracity of the alleged data theft.
