The Bottom Line

- The Kelly Clarkson Show topped the program count with five wins despite facing a bittersweet cancellation timeline.
Daytime Drama Milestones and Newcomers at the Palladium
Friday night’s ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium delivered a mix of long-running supremacy and freshman breakthroughs for daytime television. ABC’s medical soap General Hospital notched its sixth consecutive Best Daytime Drama Series victory, bringing its total to 19 wins in the category. The series also picked up victories for its writing team and for guest performer Jeff Kober, who pulled off a rare double nomination year by also landing a Primetime Emmy nod for The Pitt.
Sharing the daytime drama spotlight was CBS newcomer Beyond the Gates, which burst out of the gate with 15 nominations and walked away with four wins in its first year of eligibility. The freshman soap secured trophies for lighting direction, hairstyling and makeup, and an emerging talent win for Ambyr Michelle.
“This is the best ‘welcome back to daytime’ ever,” said Tunie, reflecting on a career in the genre that began back in 1987.
| Program | Network / Distributor | Total Wins |
|---|---|---|
| The Kelly Clarkson Show | NBCUniversal Syndication Studios | 5 |
| General Hospital | ABC | 4 |
| Beyond the Gates | CBS | 4 |
| The Young and the Restless | CBS | 3 |
Talk Show Triumphs Amid Cancellation Realities
Syndicated talk programming dominated the technical and major categories, led by The Kelly Clarkson Show. The program captured five trophies, including the top daytime talk series prize, directing for a studio non-fiction series, hairstyling and makeup, art direction, and sound mixing. Because both The Kelly Clarkson Show and Sherri produced original episodes in 2026, the eligibility window leaves them qualified for next year’s Daytime Emmys despite their recent cancellations.
While Clarkson took home the top series trophy, the category for Best Daytime Talk Series Host went to Sherri Shepherd for her work on Sherri. Elsewhere in the daily categories, Star Jones achieved a major career milestone by winning her first Daytime Emmy after 14 nominations, taking home the daytime personality daily prize for Divorce Court alongside Corey Jovan.
Historical Acting Glances and Network Tallies
Acting categories across the board highlighted enduring veteran talent and historic gaps between wins. Beth Maitland claimed Best Supporting Actress for The Young and the Restless, marking her first trophy in 41 years. Co-star Roger Howarth secured Best Supporting Actor for the same CBS soap, setting a record for the longest gap between male acting wins at 32 years since his last Daytime Emmy victory.

On the network front, CBS finished the evening leading all outlets with eight wins for the network and an additional two for its syndication arm, CBS Media Ventures. NBCUniversal Syndication Studios followed with five wins, while ABC secured four wins, and Inkblot collected three.
