The Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) hosted its 38th London International Financial Forum on October 7, bringing together roughly 30 officials from the South Korean government, public investment institutions, and private financial firms to examine European infrastructure investment opportunities, Yonhap Infomax reported.
Infrastructure Investment Driven by Reshoring and Energy Autonomy
Changing global economic conditions have placed infrastructure at the center of a new investment cycle. Speaking as a keynote presenter at the London gathering, Infrastructureéb Capital Partners Partner Athanase Zoulovits noted that international reshoring and nearshoring trends, combined with pushes for energy independence and escalating technological competition, are fundamentally reshaping global markets.
According to Zoulovits, three structural pillars will dominate future infrastructure demand: the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, ongoing energy transitions, and Europe’s strengthening strategic autonomy. These shifts are expected to unlock long-term capital deployment across digital, energy, transportation, and social infrastructure networks.
Managing this volatile market environment requires selective targeting and active asset management to generate tangible value, Zoulovits added. He pointed out that the infrastructure mid-market specifically offers distinct avenues for business innovation and multi-faceted value creation.
KIC London Branch Assesses Structural Market Shifts
The event was organized directly by KIC’s London branch. Lee Geon-woong, head of the KIC London office, stated that the conference provided a meaningful platform to evaluate how structural alterations—including AI proliferation, energy transitions, and supply chain realignments—directly impact the European infrastructure market while exploring new avenues for collaborative investment.
