Around 2:50 a.m. last night, an ambulance was dispatched to St-Josse-ten-Node, Chaussée de Louvain, in the section between Place Madou and Place St-Josse, to take care of an injured person on a public road.

During the intervention, an individual had repeatedly disrupted the smooth running of the intervention and did not respond to orders, the firefighters explained in the press release.

This person then took out a knife to threaten the responders and the police on site. The police present on site restrained the individual. Service weapons were drawn.

An investigation has been opened to shed light on the incident. The Victim Assistance service of the police in the Brussels North zone intervened to provide psychological support to the paramedics concerned. One of those present during the incident had to interrupt his guard, traumatized. The injured man was taken care of by another ambulance.
