Big victory for comedian Kouthia against his former colleague Amina Poté. The defamation case between Kouthia and Amina Poté was pleaded yesterday, Wednesday January 24, 2024, before the Dakar criminal court.
The Dakar criminal judge completely acquitted Kouthia of all accusations of insults and defamation brought against him by the TFM host. However, the legal battle is far from over. Indeed, Amina Poté, determined not to give up, decided, through her lawyer, to appeal this judge’s decision, reports Senenews.
During the hearing on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the prosecutor requested the application of criminal law against Kouthia, while Amina Poté, represented by her lawyer, symbolically requested one franc.
As a reminder, the former comedian and employee of Télévision Futurs Médias (TFM), is accused of having recorded defamatory remarks against Amina “Poté”, accusing her of lesbianism and alcoholism. Kouthia had also made serious revelations about host Amina Poté, accusing her of having relationships with singer Viviane Chidid. This attack had prompted his former colleague and presenter to take legal action, with a direct summons against Kouthia, accompanied by a demand for 100 million FCfa in damages.
According to her, the comedian who had initially mentored her when she started at TFM, could not stand her success. “Kouthia is bitter. He can’t stand my talent, that’s why he tries by all means to tarnish my reputation. I stand today in front of all Senegalese people to deny these false accusations from Kouthia. I’m not a lesbian and people need to stop trying to tarnish my image. Until I die, whenever anyone tries to tarnish my image, I will deny it,” she added.
Amina Poté did not just crop Kouthia. She also implicated the comedian in the death of Ndiaye Kouthia.
