Kozhikode: Two drowned, one rescued; Relatives at risk

Kozhikode: Two persons drowned in the Nadapuram Vilangadu river. The deceased have been identified as Hrithin (22), son of Koovathottu Pappachan and Ashmin (14), daughter of Alappattu Sabu. Hrithik’s sister rescues Hrithik.

Pappachan and his family came to his cousin Sabu’s house from Bangalore to celebrate Easter. Five people, including Hrithik, Ashmin and their brothers, went to see the barricade in the Vilangadu river near Sabu’s house. While taking the photo, Hrithik slipped and fell into the water. The other two were swept away when they jumped into the river to save Hrithik. The rescue operation was carried out by the locals who ran away following hearing the cries of the brothers of the deceased Ash.

They were rushed to a private hospital in Kallachi but only Hriday’s life was saved. Hrithik is the son of Ash’s’ mother’s sister.
