Ilya Sorokin made the 7th shutout of the season NHLreflecting 44 throws “Montreal”.
Russian goalkeeper Islanders was recognized as the first star of the regular season match against the Canadiens (3: 0).
Sorokin improved his personal league record in saves per game, set in a recent game against Pittsburgh.
Note that he played the second match in 2 days, as Semyon Varlamov could not play due to illness.
Sorokin has 7 clean sheets this season. According to their number, he is second only to Jacob Markstrom from Calgary (9).
In addition, Ilya repeated the club record for the number of shutouts in one season. It was set by Glenn Resch in the 1975/76 season and repeated by Varlamov last season.
