Last week we revealed what is the most radical KTM electric bicycle in its entire range for 2022. Just at the opposite extreme is the KTM Macina Team in its assembly 292which thanks to a more restrained technical file, although decidedly sporty, manages to be marketed in certain European countries at a much cheaper price than its older sister.
To shape the access step to its range of electric mountain bikes, KTM has opted for the geometry of a hardtail, which makes the Macina Team a balanced ebike that will be suitable for both demanding off-road routes without completely leaving aside a good behavior on asphalt.
Like its big brother, the KTM Macina Team relies on an electrical schematic made by Bosch. In fact the electric motor is exactly the same, a Bosch Cx Performance Line fourth generation, so it offers the same 85 Nm per motor than the Macina Prowler Exonic, costing three times less than this. The power is limited to the maximum 250 W allowed by European regulations.
The battery from which the electric motor is powered is positioned, as usual, in the lower tube of the frame (which is made of aluminium) and has a capacity of 625 Wh. A high figure in general terms with which with a full charge you should complete a full day of the route.
The only spring that we find in the KTM Macina Team falls on the front fork, and its manufacture is carried out by RockShox. The specialist offers the most affordable KTM electric bicycle a 35 silver TK fork whose travel is 120 millimeters, sufficient given the concept of the Macina Team.
When it comes to braking, Shimano is responsible, and KTM has not skimped by equipping the Macina Team with an MT420 system with a four-piston caliper on the front axle, while in the transmission we find a system also from Shimano, model Deore M5100 coordinating the change through a KMC chain, model e11 Sport EPT specific for electric bicycles.
The KTM Macina Team is only available in the matt black color that appears in the image, which together with the areas finished in white and accents in the KTM house brand orange color manages to offer a sufficiently sporty image.
Like the Macina Prowler Exonic (and the entire range of KTM electric bicycles), the KTM Macina Team is not available in Spain, since the ebike division of the Austrian firm has not yet made the commercial landing of its products in our country. officially. In the countries where the KTM Macina Prowler is sold, it is priced at 3,649 euros, which represents an extra outlay of around 1,000 euros according to the most affordable electric mountain bikes from leading brands such as Cannondale, Scott, Specialized or Canyon, although in exchange for better components.
