The Kyiv authorities described how they will carry out major repairs of the metro tunnels from the Pochaynaya station to Taras Shevchenko station. “The overhaul of the tunnels between these stations, which was planned in advance, will be carried out without stopping train traffic. The final design decisions will be determined after a state examination,” the statement says. The Pochayna and Taras Shevchenko metro stations were put into operation in 1980 and require a planned overhaul of part of the tunnel section. Now these stations and transport tunnels operate as usual both for passenger transportation and for round-the-clock shelter of the population during an air raid.

On December 9, the movement of trains on the Kyiv metro Obolonsko-Teremkovskaya line was urgently stopped in the section between the Lybidskaya and Demeevskaya stations due to flooding of the tunnel.

In March of this year. The mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, said that the planned work on the emergency section of the “blue” metro line tunnel has been completed by 40%. According to him, the city authorities are doing everything possible to restore metro traffic between the Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya stations at the end of the summer.

At the same time, the head of the Office of Transformations, Maxim Bakhmatov, said that part of the blue metro line, which was closed for repairs on December 9, could resume operation in a few years. He believes that the emergency part of the tunnel between the Demeevskaya and Lybidskaya stations should not be repaired, but rebuilt, and such work will take from 2 to 5 years.

And on April 19, the Kommersant Kyiv publication, citing its own sources in the Kyiv City State Administration, published information that on the same “blue” line of the Kyiv metro they are preparing to close several more stations. We are talking about “Pochayna” and “Taras Shevchenko”. The capital’s authorities, as the publication writes, also have questions about the technical condition of Pochtovaya Ploshchad, which is under high load due to heavy traffic, an unfinished transport interchange and new office buildings. According to the publication’s interlocutor, the issue of “Poshtovaya Ploshchad” is still being considered at the level of expert discussion. The closure of Pochaynaya and Taras Shevchenko is inevitable.
