Kyrgios stars in a minute of fury after being eliminated from the US Open

After being eliminated in the quarterfinals against Karén Jachánov, the Australian Nick Kyrgios had his minute of fury at the US Open; he had a tantrum, broke two rackets and belittled ‘small’ tournaments.

This Tuesday, the Australian Nick Kyrgios (25th ATP), who seems to have taken the hand of the Grand Slams, said goodbye to the US Open after falling in the quarterfinals against the Russian Karen Khachanov (31st) and after that, he starred in one of the most insane moments of the American contest.

And it is that the ‘bad boy’ of world tennis, just after shaking hands with his rival and the judge of the commitment, He went to his bench and shattered his racket, then took another one out of his bag and did the same before the impassive gaze of the attendees and while Khachanov was celebrating his victory.

A frustration driven to madness that has been customary throughout Kyrgios’ career, however, his unease was not only left at that furious moment, but, at a press conference, the oceanic questioned the circuit and underestimated the most ‘little ones’.

The Australian emphasized that, now that he knows what it is to be successful in the ‘big ones’, he feels that “other competitions are a waste of time”.

“Honestly, I don’t care about other tournaments anymore. I feel they have no value. The only thing people remember in a ‘big game’ is whether you win or lose. I think that practically all the other competitions of the year are a waste of time. You should only compete in the ‘big ones’”he complemented.

It should be noted that before falling in the top eight at the US Open, Kyrgios was a finalist at Wimbledon, falling to Serbian legend Novak Djokovic.

On the other hand, the oceanic acknowledged that he feels “devastated” by the defeat and highlighted Khachanov’s merits: “His service is perhaps the best I’ve seen in this tournament.”

“I feel like I either win it all or lose it all. I feel that I have failed in this tournament… That is what I feel”sentenced.
