Kyrgyzstan: They believe they are safe by filming an avalanche and end up being carried away

The heat caused a glacier to collapse in Kyrgyzstan. A scene filmed by too careless hikers who ended up being hit by the avalanche.

Incredible images from the Juuku Gorge. While hiking in this mountainous area of Kyrgyzstan (a country located west of China), tourists saw the start of an avalanche in the distance.

Thinking they were safe at this distance from the avalanche, they pulled out their smartphone to film this spectacular scene that we rarely see in a lifetime.

Except that the scene was filmed from a location below the avalanche and in front of it. A mistake when you know the speed at which snow can descend such a slope.

After a few moments, the tourist filming (visibly English-speaking) realizes his mistake and that the avalanche is about to take him. “Oh god, oh dear god” (oh my god, in French), he worries without panicking.

Then the camera and whoever was holding it end up covered in snow, before the video cuts out. The scene was filmed from another point of view, by a second tourist.

Authorities said the glacier broke away after melting. According to local media, two people were hospitalized following the incident.
